As a major power on the world trading scene, China is important demographic to the Okanagan Valley. Hong Kong influences have been part of the local culture since the turn of the 20th century. Goods and service both imported and exported play an important role in the Okanagan Valley.

    Tolko Industries is the Okanagan’s largest forestry operation. Headquartered in Vernon, Tolko manufacturers a variety of specialty wood products from several locations throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Tolko’s ships product worldwide and has recently focussed efforts on the Japan, China and Korea markets.

  2. Penticton Foundry Ltd.
    Penticton Foundry produces ductile iron castings, gray iron castings, and high chrome white iron castings for clients across North America and the United States from the foundry in Penticton.

    Providing castings since 1935, Penticton Foundry Ltd. is a modern 80,000 square foot facility on 5.5 acres, using the latest no-bake technology for molds and cores. In addition to castings the foundry offers value-added services such as: heat-treat, machining, painting and priming, final inspection and metallurgical analysis. Pouring castings to ABS Standards with 100% traceability as well as castings to Military Specs, the foundry is certified to ISO 9000-2000.

    The Penticton Foundry also has joint ownership in three Chinese foundries which allows them to protect the customer’s ideas and patterns. Their sister foundries in China are capable of producing castings from a few ounces up to 30,000 lbs.
